Keeley A. DeBack

Traverse City Attorney

A  Michigan native who grew up in the Midwest, Keeley A. DeBack is a trial attorney who brings a combination of strong legal instincts and significant courtroom experience. She has tried more than 30 criminal jury trials, including 24 felony trials, with cases ranging from aggravated robbery and domestic violence to vehicular homicide and first-degree murder.

Ms. DeBack spent over four years as a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado’s Fourth Judicial District, where she handled serious criminal prosecutions and served as the lead attorney of the Vehicular Homicide Team, as well as a member of the Animal Cruelty Unit. Her work earned her the 2024 Outstanding Attorney Award for her role as first chair in a vehicular homicide trial.

When a multi-day invasion of privacy trial transcript was lost due to a technology failure, Ms. DeBack reconstructed the record in its entirety, earning a 2025 Quarterly Award for her diligence and professionalism.

She later served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Grand Traverse County, Michigan, where she handled criminal matters, child protective proceedings, and mental health commitment hearings before entering private practice.

Her background as a prosecutor provides unique insight into case strategy, investigation, and trial presentation.

Ms. DeBack earned her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law, where she was a member of the National Trial Team and received a Best Advocate Award. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies and Political Science from Elmhurst University, where she served as Mock Trial Team Captain and received multiple Outstanding Attorney awards.

Ms. DeBack resides in Traverse City with her husband and their two dogs, Vanna and Nola, and spends her summers on Northern Michigan’s lakes and her evenings hosting friends and family.
